You may think that you can spot the signs of burnout, but having been there myself, often you can’t until it’s too late. Burnout can completely destroy you and all those closen to you.

  1. You feel you have to prove yourself
  2. You work harder and longer hours
  3. You neglect yourself
  4. You have conflict with others, but you’re unable to find the cause
  5. You’re in denial
  6. You become withdrawn.
  7. You have obvious behavioural changes
  8. You have a feeling of emptiness
  9. You are depressed
  10. You have a complete breakdown

Don’t wait until this happens to you, nip it in the bud now. As you’re reading this, ask yourself, “Do I need to take a break?”

I’ve learnt that by setting boundaries and having a healthy set of coping strategies, which includes time for me, is essential.

If you’re experiencing two or more of these signs, you could be on the verge of burnout, and it can lead to devatsating consequences.

The best thing I did was to talk to someone I trusted and she helped me on my journey of self-discovery. I now have a healthy set of coping strategies to avoid burnout and I am able to support others to do the same.
